MedsCheck & Medication Reviews

A structured, confidential 20–30 minute one-on-one consultation with our pharmacist to review all your prescribed medications, over-the-counter remedies, and supplements to ensure they work together safely and effectively.

What the service involves

1Sitting down with our senior pharmacist in our private consultation room with all your medicines in front of you.
2Discussing what each medicine does, why it was prescribed, and how best to take it (e.g. morning vs evening, with or without food).
3Checking for potential drug interactions, duplicate therapies, or bothersome side effects.
4Reviewing proper inhaler, eye drop, or injector technique where relevant.
5Receiving a clear, updated list of your medications and an agreed Action Plan for any questions to discuss with your doctor.

Who it may be suitable for

Individuals taking 5 or more regular prescription medicines daily.
Patients who have recently returned home from a hospital stay with altered medications.
Anyone experiencing unexplained side effects, dizziness, or confusion about their repeat schedule.
Individuals diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes seeking a tailored Diabetes MedsCheck.

How to prepare for your visit

Gather all medicines you take regularly or intermittently — including tablets, creams, inhalers, eye drops, herbal remedies, and vitamin supplements.
Note down any specific questions or concerns you have experienced (e.g., upset stomach, tiredness, forgetfulness).
Bring any recent discharge summary from hospital if applicable.

Fees & Subsidies

MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck are fully subsidised by the Australian Government for eligible Medicare cardholders once every 12 months (or sooner if significant clinical changes have occurred).

Clinical Limitations & Safety Information

A MedsCheck does not replace medical diagnosis or therapy prescribed by your medical practitioner. Any suggested alterations to prescription medicines are discussed with and authorised by your doctor.
